Fracking, good or bad?

"Fracking" or "hydraulic fracturing"  is a special way of natural gas promotion. It's a controversial way and has his pros and cons. First of all, I want to give a small introducion into "what is hydraulic fracturing exactlly?".

Hydraulic fracturing is all about pressing a big amount of water, treated with chemicals, below the earth's surface and "crack" layers of rock. This way, the existing gas escapes from the rocks and can be pumped up trough special pipes.

This process wastes a lot of water and contaminates the earth. It ruins the ground and make it unusable for any kind of agriculture. A further problems is the contaminated water. The process of cleaning and decontaminating takes a lot of energy is very expensive.

All in all, it is a good way to promote gas that's difficult to access, but the side effects give them a very big down side when it comes to reliability.

Scientists and non scientists

In my opinion, our education system is the reason for the wall between scientists and non scientists. Just the fact that you always have these big differences between “science” and “something else” shows that our system needs some huge changes. Of course, a scientist sees his environment from an other point of view than an auto mechanic, but with a background in our system as we have one,  it's almost impossible to get a connection between these tow societies.

En mi opinión, nuestro sistema educativo es la base en la que se encuentra un muro entre un "científico" y un "no científico".

The influences of sciences nowadays

Every day, when we eat breakfast, when we go to school or to work, when we use almost any kind of technical unit, the science is our companion. Because all the things we use are a result of understanding physics, chemistry and biology. Each kind of transport, computers, phones, the whole way of communication, everything's based on sciences. We just cannot live without it.  And spite the fact that we probably don't notice all the influence of sciences in our daily life, it's still important to get an eye on what is going on behind the scene of it. Even if there isn't a drastic change in our system, the developments of science, for example cars with an electric engine or new medicaments for healing previously unknown diseases, are beginning to interact with ourselves.

I think that everybody should be aware of the important things that happen in science. Maybe only a bit, but you can't look away.
